At the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), she played a pivotal role in the operationalization of the "cognitive malware effect," sparking her passion for cognitive engineering and human factors. This interest guided her Master's research on user-avatar interactions and perception of performance.
Her doctoral work introduced "lunar psychophysics," a new sub-specialization in the field of psychophysics, leading her to establish the Lunar Psychophysics Virtual Reality Laboratory at the Catholic University of America.
As a doctoral research fellow for the U.S. Army Research Institute, she developed critical assessments for military Command Climate, working directly with battalion commanders to address performance issues—even when leadership itself was the root cause.
